Engine cooling system.
In addition to the stationary air-cooled engines in the practice of amateur shipbuilding is possible to use different kinds of universal transport and water-cooled engines. Leaving aside the question of choosing the optimal mode of operation of engines on the boats and the calculation of elements of the cooling system (they are discussed in detail in the aforementioned books) and get acquainted with the basic design decisions.
The most simple - open (Single circuit) cooling system, in which the engine is cooling seawater directly. The necessary conditions for the functioning of the system are: speed boat for at least 12 km / h and is quite low relative to the waterline installation of motor. Curved end of a tube-water inlet, directed against the course of the boat, is located in the zone of greatest pressure, at a distance of approximately one third the length of the blade on its edge in the radial direction. The distance from the edge of the tube to the propeller blades in the axial direction should be 10-12 mm. More versatile and reliable is the cooling system, which provides supply sea water through pump seawater. Water entering the system through the filter pump is pumped sequentially through the oil cooler, cooled exhaust manifold, a shirt-space engine and enters the exhaust pipe. Between oil cooler and a pump set to manual manipulator crane, to regulate the water temperature at the outlet from the engine. The creation of this crane, you can take some of the water, bypassing the oil cooler and the engine, directly into the exhaust pipe. Handling, so the water supply can sustain the desired engine temperature.
Finally, another option for single-circuit system or direct cooling of the engine, in which the temperature of water in the system is automatically controlled by thermostat.
When the engine warms up when the water is cold, the thermostat is closed the main valve. In this case, the water passing through the cooler and the engine is not thrown overboard, and returned back to suction pump. A vicious cycle, which lasts as long as the water warms up not to the desired temperature (for motor vehicles - 80-90 "C). |
